THE PHILOSOPHICAL BORDELLO

The title of this project, “The Philosophical Bordello” was the name first given by the French poet, Apollinaire, to Picasso’s famous work, “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon”, a title I appropriated while working in a studio on Avinyó street in Barcelona. With this series I was interested in creating sexually charges images that reflect on the circle of life and death, with sexuality as the eternal force. This series is an exploration of the use of sexual energy  as a spring-board for larger creative and intellectual explorations, and it’s undeniable connection to the forces of creation on a universal plane.
