COLLAGE

The Forest of LL, collage on paper, 30 x 40 cm

This is a piece I was working on back in February. I was thinking a lot about trees, the hidden world of roots and the forms that echo so many human parts (nerves, neurons, veins). I'm also interested in ideas and research in plant consciousness and communication.

There are some other things going on here, the forest as origin, and place of hidden desires, also hibernation, fungi, and goddesses.

String Theory, collage on paper, 30 x 40 cm

This piece began with musings about summer memories, and evolved into a reflection about physical pain and the nervous system - which nerves are connected to the jaw, and which ones are connected to the manatees?

The Scent of Maracuya, collage on paper, 30 x40

The Cheese Goddess, collage on paper, 30 x 40 cm

I was thinking about the title of the book 'The God of Small Things' and also Pablo Neruda's beautiful odes to simple things, like 'Ode to an Onion.' This is the Cheese Goddess:

Our Lady of the Clams, collage on paper, 30 x 40 cm

It's Like a Jungle, collage on paper, 30 x 40 cm.

The Shape and Echo of "I", collage on paper 30 x 40 cm

This pice is  about that moment when you awaken, and your unconscious self seems as real and as much a part of who you are as the one who walks around functioning all day.

Dentata, collage on paper, 30 x 40 cm

The title of this piece is a reference to the Vagina Dentata, or ‘toothed vagina’- which was coined by Freud, but existed in myths around the world. Here it is used as an ironic warning, that what is seen as feminine, or harmless (weak/insignificant) may hide powerful even castrating forces.
